The day before HoneyBunny went to the Bridge, she walked up to a very tall man
in the small animal aisle at PetSmart (she had been terrified of tall men when
she came from the shelter 11 yrs ago). She sat down in front of him, and
leaned her head way back so she could look up into his eyes. Obviously not
a "dog person", he looked at me, at a loss. I told him,
"I'm sorry, but I don't think she's going to move until you pet her."
With a small smile, he stroked her head. Score one for the HoneyBunny!

My dog has done a lot of funny things that makes me and my family laugh, but the
one thing that sticks out the most is when we were outside, he ran and ran and
then he did a front roll, but not on purpose, he just did it because he was
going way to fast!! That is what my dog did that made me and my family laugh!!

We have a year old Havanese. Yes he is very smart. My wife, upon
returning home, will pick up "Gus" and sort of sing/howl to him
"I LOVE YOU", and after not much time, he will respond howling
"I love you". It is very understandable! Is this unusual
or what?

I have a staffordshire bull terrier and her name is Tia. Some mornings she
will run around as fast as she can upstairs and down with her tail between her
legs and before she goes out for a poo she always sits down with her hind legs
sticking up and spins around using her front legs to pull her around, while
doing this she's always gotta smile on her face lol. Also when she wants
to play she barks with like a really light tone in her voice like a squeaky yap
and she makes funny noises trying to stretch the sound. She's funny

One time my dad had a pile of clean clothes on the couch and as a joke I threw
my dad's thong at my boyfriend, grossed out he threw it back at me and as the
thong was in the air, my dog Mama does one of those "Mighty dog" leaps
and catches it in her mouth! Hmm so that is why dogs have bad breath! It
was hilarious!

My 2 yr old female Doberman, Darmok, likes to beg for food whenever I sit down
to eat. She figured out that I would not share my food with her, so she
started "bartering" for bites. She will bring me the TV remote, the
phone, magazines, pieces of mail, even coupons that have been cut from the
newspaper...anything that will "buy" a bite of my cheeseburger!

I moved to an apartment in the country , on the second floor. Since out side
there was nothing but field I saw no reason to go up & down the stairs each
time my dogs needed to go out , so I started to give them a treat each time they
needed to go out just to do their business., so they would just go out and come
right back without my need to do the 19 stairs as well . It didn,t take long
before my one dog Freddie started asking to go out , and then just go down the
stairs ,pause and then come right back for the treat . When I told him he
hadn"t done anything he would go back down lift his leg (still not doing
anything) and come back up again hoping for a treat. Dogs (especially Border
Collies) are some times way too bright.

My Jack Russell Snoop is full of laughs. One day after a long tiring day of work
I decided to take a nice hot bubble bath with both snoop's and I Favorite
fragrance (peaches and cream)....I was relaxing as was snoop on the floor but
for some reason he left out of the bathroom ( which he never does because he is
my shadow, wherever mom is he is there)...all I heard was him running full
speed, next thing you know he swan dived in the tub with me trying to doggy
paddle his way out....I called my fiancé in to assist with helping him out in
which he picked him up by his little tusch and he was dripping with water, he
dried him off and put him in his crate, somehow Mr. Snoop got out once again to
do another full speed dive in the tub, nevertheless my fiancé was no longer
smiling but I thought it was the most hilarious/cutest thing I ever saw....

I have a rabbit, her ate died, and I didn't want her to be lonely, so I put her
with my Chihuahuas, they roam the house and yard, and sleep in a playpen at
night, so, Oreo, the rabbit did this also, over time, I noted that Oreo gave up
vegies for dog food, began beating up the cat, cuddling with the dogs, running
excitedly when they came to her. In other words, Oreo became a dog! Is that a
dog story?

My Bichon is very silly. Whenever my mother comes home she growls in a low
voice that sounds like she's saying mom mom mom over and over again! I swear she
only says it to my mom! And then she'll smile crooked at her with her
little black lips. She growls at everyone and smiles all goofy, then
kisses them, but she doesn't say "mom" to anyone other then my mother!
Everyone thinks I'm crazy until they actually hear her.

I have a black poodle who is turning 3 on September 11th. Once he dropped
his ball in the pool & i wouldn't get it for because i know he will just
drop it in again. Anyway he started crying and bent down swinging
his paw in the water, he then lost his balance and did a flip in the water, it
was very funny to watch. Mucking around calling my dog names he hears us
and gets really offended and puts his tail between his legs and goes to his bed.
i have lots more funny stories but it will take up too much space. See ya
later!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a black poodle called Remi, i feel sorry for him because he was born on
the 11th of September. Not only that, but every time the doorbell rings he
starts barking and even if his there and u trick him & ring the D/B he will
start barking. When he was a pup & the YV was on, a dog would bark on
there and Remi would start barking back at it while looking at the TV.

When I was 12 we had a german shepherd named " BING" .Whenever I tried
to sing along with the radio, he would growl. I'd stop...he'd stop. I start
singing again and he would growl. Guess he had insight because I asked for
private singing lessons from a teacher and she said "There's nothing there
to train." She should have took me on, could have made a fortune from me!

My family dog named Shevvy who is a shelty will blow bubbles in her water if you
put some dog food in it when she gets it out. It's so funny. Also Fred my guide
dog, who is a black lab, likes watching Star Trek with me. Usually if I don't
turn it to spike when the bird clock sounds at 1, he'll nock the remote off the
couch and slide it to my feet. I check his head during the show, and he really
watches it! Crazy isn't it?

I have a Yorkie-Poo and is the funniest puppy I have ever seen. Ok so I had a
bunch of my friends over for a party after a school dance and I put her outside
and kept the door open but closed the screen. So my friend Ryan decided to call
her name and she ran straight into the screen, it was hilarious. Another time
was when she was trying to reach the candy on the table (she's a short pup) she
gave up trying to reach the candy on top of the table so she decides to go under
the glass table and bangs her head on the glass...it was hilarious. Some of the
other funny stories is her mostly running into things. lol

run away from it then I put her feet in the water and she started to run faster
and faster it was funny.

I have two American Pitbulls that stay in the house together most of the time.
One day only Q-Ball was in the house and he was bored because he didn't have his
buddy to play with and we didn't feel like playing with him at the time, so he
goes and gets his rope and leans over the back of the couch. He was
sitting there moving his head up and down and side to side. Finally, he
drops his rope. I didn't know what he was doing at the time, but later
when I got up I realized that he kept trying to drop his rope in his water bowl
that was setting behind the couch.

My Bichon Frise is named ‘Penny Ann’, and she is two years and weighs only 9
pounds. Penny Ann likes to watch the Animal Channel with my husband and me.
Every time she sees a dog on the TV she starts to growl and bark at it. After a
few seconds she’ll jump down and run over to the TV and really try to fight it
out with the dog on TV. She keeps this up until we tell her "NO BARK"
or the dog goes away. Actually it’s not just dogs she does this with… she
also does it with pigs, goats, cows, cats, horses, ducks, chickens, sheep,
lamas, and even when she sees elephants on TV! This is the ONLY time she acts
aggressive so we let her get it out of her system with the TV.
Thank you for letting me share the antics of my sweet Penny Ann.

My crazy Jack Russell Terrier named Rascal loves to be walked at the off-leash

One of my two German Shepherds learned out to open the door between the house
and the garage. Unfortunately, he taught himself this trick after playing in the
rain and mud all day. Once inside, the dogs went on every level looking
for me. In the process, they shaked to remove the water/mud and also
rubbed against the walls and doors - I was at work. It took a good 2 hours
to clean all the mess up. They were quite proud of themselves. I now
keep the garage door locked.

My sister had two yorkshire terriers... well the funny thing was they used to
fight over their toys even though they had about a million, they both wanted the

one around the room with the toy in her mouth because he is trying to get her to
let go of it! The sounds they make are hilarious.

My dog Reggie makes me laugh every day! He is half cocker spaniel and half
sheltie. When we got him about six years ago my sister was still a baby. She
would cry and he would go sit right next to her and would cry too! He also
chases the flashlight around like its what he was put on this earth to do, and
when I set it down he stares at it. When he’s not doing that he is looking out
the living room window for hours upon hours barking at anything that moves. I
also have a 24-foot pool and in the summer when we are swimming he walks around
the edge of the pool like a circus dog. Most of the time he makes it around the
whole pool put sometimes he looses his balance and falls in. So I have to help
him out, and when I lift him up to get him out of the water he still is kicking.

My dog, Gracie, (a 40 pound mutt) loves to jump up on the back of our sofa and
lick my fiance's ears when he's off guard. He calls them "wet Gracies"
instead of wet willies. He's an air traffic controller, and he went into
work one afternoon after having his wet Gracies, but when he tried to plug in
his earpiece, it wouldn't go in. He stuck his finger in his ear . . . and
pulled out a piece of dog food! Apparently, Gracie had had a snack before
licking my fiance's ears, and she left him a little snack for later. He

Dutchess is a 20lb., 4 years old female, her parents being a 100% Sheltie(father)
and a 100% Cocker(mother). Last year she was spending a couple nights at the
pastor's house. Kathy took out a l lb + venison steak but it had freezer burn on
it so she put it in the uncovered garbage basket. Well, during the night, being
a normal dog, she tipped over the basket and proceeded to enjoy the venison
steak. When they came down in the morning, there was just a small bone left.
Needless to say, she made many trips outside with diarrhea but no accidents in
the house. When we picked her up the next am. to travel, we had to stop
about 45 minutes down the road and one other special stop near the end of the
day. Hopefully, that will be her one only STEAK dinner.

We have a little yorkie/poodle mix that weighs in at about 5 pounds. Our
daughte has a lab/mastiff mix that comes in closer to 150 pounds. When
they were first introduced, it was hard to tell who was more scared, the little
one, or the big one! Malcom (big one) jumped back about 6 feet when
Chester (little one) started bouncing around, and Chester jumped back about 6
feet when he saw Malcom slobbering over him!
Within minutes though (after their shock wore off) Malcom was lying on his back
with his head on the floor to be at Chester's level so they could play, and
Chester was climbing all over Malcom's head and into his mouth!

I had a dog and a cat when I was first married. The dog was a lab cross
and the cat a burmese cross. The lab was a motherly type and the cat, or I
should say kitten, was only tiny. She got very sick with pneumonia at six
months and never got any bigger. The dog Lady looked after her, snuggled
her and to my amazement, allowed Tina, the cat, to suckle off her during the
time she was ill and after for nearly six months.
Needless to say these two were inseparable. They were also the biggest
rogues out.
On evening my hubby and I picked up one of those juicy hot chickens on the way
home from work. We were going to have it after gym so we put it on top of
the fridge to cool al little whilst we worked out.
When we arrived home we opened the door and here are Tina and Lady sitting at
the front door looking angelic, butter wouldn't have melted in their mouths.
Hubby and I went into the bathroom, showered and changed and while I put on a
load of washing he went into the kitchen to make a salad.
When I went into the kitchen I reached up for the chicken. Gone. I
looked everywhere for it. We moved out the fridge and checked behind it
and even rang my brother who called in all the time to "borrow"
things. No chuck, no foil bag, no plastic bag and no teatowel. The
whole lot was gone.
We had a lonely salad that night.
Two days later when we were cleaning our unit we emptied the bins and refilled
the soft drink fridge in the bar. Steven noticed a small piece of shiny
paper on the vinyl. Proof!
The cat must have gotten ontothe fridge and dragged the chicken off and they
both had devoured the lot except for a couple of inches of tea towel and a piece
of silver paper the size of a fifty cents piece.
Needless to say the vet had to give both of them the equivalent of a laxitive to
help move things along as they move had a belly ache for a few days.
Chickens were collected after gym after that!

My son Jay has a Rottie bitch who we saved from being put down. Zoe is the
most lovable dog. She was terrified of everything when she came
home. Water, hoses, brushes, garden tools and most of all kids. Jay
spent hours with her encouraging and loving her and now, thanks to his loving
patience, Zoe loves the hose, jumps for water from it, chases the brush around
the yard with her nose and generally has a ball. The only problem we don't
seem to have over come is the kid thing.
My daughter Jessica was young when Zoe came home and so that Zoe could settle
without any hassles we told Jessie that Zoe was shy. Jessie seemed to
understand and gave her wide berth. She kept quite around her and didn't
press Zoe when she wanted to pet her. Soon Zoe was going up to Jess for a
pat and we thought that we were over the worst. But it seemed that was not
the case. Children must have cowed Zoe and really made her fearful of them
because Zoe has a power problem. One day Jessica was lying on the lounge
room floor with her head on her arm, colouring in with her crayons.
Everything was quiet and Zoe waddled in from outside. Zoe walked past the
lounge room door, did a double take and backed up. She then slid around
the back of the couch and lay watching Jess. Jess, sick of colouring,
dozed off to sleep. We watched the wiley rottie belly creep to the rug,
stand up and creep over to Jess and plonk her behind on Jessie's Head. We
all burst into fits of laughter,Jess woke up and screamed, Zoe yelped like
she'd been stuck with a huge pin and litout for Jay's bedroom and dived under
his bed lifting one side precariously, as she was bigger than the space under
the bed.
I don't know who got the biggest shock at the time but since then Jessie gets up
off the floor when Zoe is around and Zoe sits with a big smirking grin on her
face when she sees her. What a power play?

My cheaky Max did a funny thing yesterday. I took
them all for a run in the park and there was a man practicing his golf and had
left his bag with clubs at this end of the field whilst collecting his balls at
the other end. Max ran up to his bag and started dragging what must have been
his lunch out of the pocket the bag had on the side. I was shouting at Max to
drop it as I was about 100 ft away and the man was about 250 feet away shouting
and waving his golf club. I managed to get to Max and drag him away by his
collar before he managed to munch the butties. I was chuckling as I walked away
though.

I have two pekes, Abbott(1yr)& Costello(4 months). This tale is on the
oldest, Abbott. My husband & I were on the porch with the dogs. I mentioned
in a whisper Abbott needed a bath...(Abbott loves baths,he goes crazy when he
hears the word bath.) I didn't think he heard. Later in the house, I was sitting
at the computer, and we heard a big thump, then he began to bark. I asked my
husband if he thought Abbott was trying to tell me something. Abbott then came
running into the living room to bark at me. I asked him what he wanted. He ran
back into the bathroom and THUMP! Back in the tub he went. My oldest son came in
and asked what was wrong with Abbott. I told him I think he is trying to tell me
he wants a bath. My son went to get him out of the tub, and brought him back in
the room, (so he could bark at me some more), and set him down. Abbott promptly
came to my chair and barked again. I told him to wait just a minute. He ran back
into the bathroom and THUMP! again. I decided I had better give him his bath
before he hurts himself. I got him out to run the water, while he hung over the
side to watch the water. I turned around to get his towels and heard a SPLASH!
He had jumped back into the tub and sent water everywhere!

More of a cat laugh, but the dog's behavior precipitated the events.
My house and my neighbor's house adjoin the same yard. My American Eskimo
spitz loves to chase the neighbor's cats (he would never hurt them, he just
wants to play). He chased one of the cats, a portly tabby, on to its porch
and I saw the cat leap about 4 feet on to the back door so it was clinging to
the door's window with its claws and staring desperately inside with its face
pressed against the window. It clung to the window like this for several
seconds before I heard the neighbor inside laughing and saying "Princess
wants in!"

My dog's name is Marshmellow,(Mel for short) he loves to play
and is a Maltese/Terrier mix. He did the funniest thing the other day. My sister
took him down her friends house the other day to show him off. My sister's
friend, has a bigger dog... a Golden Lag named Nalla. Nalla, also loves to play
but when a big Lab puppy and a small maltese/terrier mix play together...its
trouble. Mel was tiny and Nalla kept pouncing and knocking Mel over. When my
sister picked Mel up and put her on her lap, Mel acted all big and bad and was
barking and growling at Nalla. My sister put Mel back down when Nalla left the
room but as soon as Mel heard Nalla coming, he hid in panic behind the furniture
but Nalla found him and he ran away begging and trying to climb up on my
sister's lap again. It was soooo funny. Brave only when under good protection I
see... Well, thats my funny dog story but im sure there's plenty more to come!!!

My little Chihuahua Taco is the cutest dog in the world!
One funny thing he did is he would rub his butt on the
floor when it itched,It was disgusting but soooo funny.
Another thing he did was he would howl and whine
when he hared loud sounds.for instance,my sister places the clarinet in her band
and whenever she plays it he would howl.Or we could make howling noises near him
and he would howl soo badly like he was dying .
That is what my cute little Taco does!

My dogs are the funniest!
I am a huge Dog lover and I have three dogs. I Have a pitbull, a jack russell
terrier and a chihuahua. I most recently lost my lab/german shepherd/chow mix
named Gadget. He was one of 9 puppies and we gave all of them away but no one
wanted Gadget. My dad told us NO more dogs because at the time we had already
had three and there are a lot of trouble making dogs in our neighborhood.
Anyways we kept Gadget and him and my pitbull(pupster) were inseparable.
They did the funniest things like when they would play fight, they would
jump ,turn and run all around and some times they would flip over each other and
do all kinds of silly things.
Another thing they would do is when my sister would hang clothes a the
clothesline, they would run and grab the clothes off the clothesline and drag
them all over the yard and my sister would get so mad and she would chase them
every where but they were to fast.
They are the cutest dogs and they would make the most silliest confused faces!
Those are my tales about my two cute funny dogs!

Well, i just recently got a chihuahua and we named it Lita. We already had 2
cats, one which name is Spencer. The other cat doesn't like Lita that much but
Spencer plays with this dog constantly. Today, Lita was biting Spencers tail and
Spencer got really pissed off so he turned around and tapped Lita. Since Lita is
only 2.3 pounds, she rolled on the floor and laid on her back. Spencer came over
and got over her and had his face on Lita's stomach like Spencer was telling her
to back off. Lita was lying there with her tail between her legs with the
worriest look on her face. After my mom got the cat away from Lita, all Lita
wanted to do was be by people and avoided the cat. About an hour later, Lita
went back to biting and annoying Spencer. Talk about a short term memory!

My dog, Buddy is a cross between a lab and a shepherd. He is just over 9
months old. He makes me smile for so many reasons. He does a few
tricks. The hardest one so far is to get him to speak, but at 2 different
levels. Sure the loud one was easy enough, but to get him to speak quietly
was a tough. He is getting pretty good at it. I said "speak,
quiet," for the soft tone and "I can hear you," if he is not loud
enough and if he is too loud I say "softer." He does know all
those commands and the usual one is "louder." I play chase with
him in the garage. I started this in the house and his toes slip on the
kitchen. It is as if all heck broke lose. I hit his butt and
he tries to run, but he slips. When I take him for a ride I say "in
the car," and he goes to the car and waits. He does this for the
house and garage. it is quite amazing. He is so playful with other
dogs, the just growl at him. He does not have a brother or sister so he
does not behave very well around other dogs. He is great for me though.
He can catch, jump, lay, sit, stay, come <even outside off the leash>, go
in his bed by himself, sit pretty, give paws. The next trick is rollover.
I am hoping to get a frisbee and get him to fetch it. He fetches bones and
sticks now so I think he is capable of learning just about anything.

The list of the funny things they do is endless. They are both obsessed
with tennis balls and all day have competitions of who can tease each other more
with the ball. My dog Annie, is about 20 lbs lighter than Chandler,
but that doesn't stop her. When he won't give her the ball she drags him around
the entire house by his collar. Also, they knew the words eat, food, fed,
outside etc....so we started to spell them out, so as not to get them excited
...a few months later....they know how to spell....i asked my husband the other
day if the dogs needed to be F-E-D...they looked at me and went and stood by
their dishes. The dogs are roughly 70 and 50 lbs, and some how
learned that being carried around like a kid is the best thing in the world...so
now they jump up and try to get us to hold them, and carry them. they say
laughter is the best medicine, so as long as my babies are around, i have no

The funny thing was how cute he looked when I caught him. So there I was
standing surrounded by the remains of the most expensive lamp my wife or I had

This isn't a laugh. This is a sad story that I really
need to share to dog owners everywhere.
My 4 kids had begged for a dog. Finally, my husband and
I decided to get a dog for the kids. We got a big dog that was somewhat related
to a golden retriever. I don't remember what type of breed. My
husband would, though. We named our dog, Princess. Princess stayed
with us for over 15 years. She'd play frisbee with the kids during
barbeques. She'd help the kids clean up toys. She'd stay with the
kids when they were scared. One time, princess saved the house
from catching on fire. I had lambchops cooking on the stove. I also
had guests over. I was so engrossed in the conversation that I was having,
that I forgot about the chops. Princess was put on her leash outside the
kitchen window since we had guests over. I guess that she had smelled the
smoke because she started barking like crazy. I excused myself from the
conversation I was having and went to Princess. When I reached the
kitchen, there was smoke around the stove. I quickly put the fire out and
thanked Princess by giving her a hamburger patty. My lambchops were
ruined, but thanks to Princess, my house wasn't.
One day, my husband was taking out the garbage. The garbage
truck was coming tomorrow. Princess loved the garbage truck. Every
time that she heard the truck back-up into our drive-way, she'd rush outside and
wait on the front lawn until it left. She had become good friends with the
garbage man. There was that one day that we lost Princess forever.
She was outside waiting for the garbage truck to leave. I guess that she
was so excited that she jumped right behind the garbage truck as it was backing
out of the driveway. We always had someone go outside to watch Princess
just in case she would run away or hurt somebody (which she would never
do). On this day, my older daughter was outside. She was 21 at the
time. At home for her break from college. She couldn't do
anything to stop Princess. All she did was yell out,
"Princess!" We took the wounded Princess to the Vet (along with
the garbage man). There was nothing that we could do. We decided to
let them put Princess to sleep. We couldn't stand it. It were just
so sad. It was Princess who had saved the house from a fire. It was
Princess who had given the children hope. It was Princess who had made my
family become more friendly. It was Princess who had taught us the circle
of life.
Samentha
Princess;Queen of All Dogs
This is a true story. I hope that Princess is up there and looking down on
us for the best. My family and I have just gotten a new puppy that looks
exactly like Princess when she was just a puppy. We named our new puppy
Dutchess. We thought of naming it Queen, but no dog will ever be in a
higher rank than Princess.

A couple of funny memories of our beloved dog Biff who died last month:-
When we first collected Biff from a rescue home he was very protective of a

he would lay on top of it, if we started pulling from the front he would use his
whole body to pull it back between his legs, until he was sat on the blanket..
Needless to say it didn't get washed very often..
Every time a police car, ambulance or fire engine went past Biff sat up straight
and howled like a wolf.. very amusing the first time we saw it!

Retriever and sheds a lot ) I was with her but for about 3 seconds i lost her,
I found her in my sisters room, lying on the floor. I said, " come
here girl" and of course she came with me.
I went to sleep ( so did Meg ) and suddenly i hear a scream that is soooo loud,
everyone ran into y older sisters room and saw smooshed (and smeered) poop
all over my sisters hair and pillow!! Pour Meg, she got yelled at and kicked
outside.

The Zen and Samurai Powers of a Peke:
Anyone familiar with "Chinese/Japanese" breeds know they have a
tendency to be let's just say..all that!
One of the first cardinal rules..NEVER call them the "D" word!
NEVER,NEVER,NEVER! They POUT you know, or worse..."Get Even"! I had a
person staying with me that didn't know Pekes. Ryu would DIE before he'd soil
the house! He'd actually "howl" at the door if you were being extremely
dense. I was at work and on this particular occasion, not only did my houseguest
fail to let him out, but, when Ryu was FORCED to soil, he smacked him on the
behind,(cardinal rule #2..NEVER!),called him (brace yourselves)a dumb dog, and
tossed him out the door. I lived on a 40 acre ranch, with several creeks, and
lots of trees. I came home from work three hours later to find my houseguest
sitting in the driveway totally hysterical! He kept babbling about "losing
your dog!...oh my God! I lost your dog"! I glanced around and called Ryu.
From under a tree by the creek, about 300 yards away, defiantly trotted Ryu.
Tail and head held high, with an expression that could only be explained as
"censored"! The story went, my houseguest had combed the area for all
three hours looking for him, growing more frantic with each passing minute.
As I mentioned..Pekes are "somewhat" vengeful, but, not without proper
motivation.
Confucious say: "Pekes don't get mad; they get even!" He be right!!

So, how do you swim?:
Every summer my family and I go up to our lake house up at Lake Hartwell. We
always bring with us, my four-year-old boxer Shadoobie. Since we got a Bichon
Frise puppy, Shazam, for Christmas last year, we brought her too. My boxer does
the funniest thing when she jumps into the water. She will stand 50 ft. away
from the shore, then take a running start, and do a belly flop into the water.
But the funniest part about that is that boxers are supposed to hate the water!
After Shazam saw Shadoobie do this, she decided she would too. So, she started
where Shadoobie did for her running start. She started to run, and when she got
to the very edge of the shore, she jumped in. This was Shazam's first time even
seeing this much water and didn't know what to do once she was in it. She
started to paddle, but when she was about ten feet out, stopped paddling.
Instead, she was opening and closing her mouth quickly, thinking that was how to
swim. So she began drinking more and more water, and surprisingly, she was able
to get back to the shore.

Wake up so I can sleep?
I fostered this 7 month old JRT/beagle mix. He was with us about a month.
He slept in the bed with us. BIG mistake ! At 6:30 every morning, he would
bounce on my chest and start licking me to tell me to wake up. (My 2
legged children have just started sleeping until about 7:30 a.m.) I gently would
push him away. He was very persistent. After he realized that wasn't
working, he began to pull the covers off of me. If that didn't work, he
would crawl under the covers from the foot of the bed. I had no escape.
I would give up and get up to try and let him out to potty. He didn't want
that. He wanted to go into the living room, lay on the couch, and guess
what.............SLEEP.

she disobeyed and ran to the other side of the sofa in the end i had to carry
her, that was very hard because pepsi's is a collie so she is quite heavy she
put all of her weight on that i had to drag her. I managed to get her out

Dogs share too:
Two days at the Vet to have a tumor removed from my leg had been exhausting. They were very nice to me but I missed being with my mom,
she lets me sleep in her waterbed and calls me her "waterbed baby." Before mom and I went home we stopped by Aunt Deb's so Gilbert and
Bridey, my Whippet cousins could cheer me up a little. I smelled different and had a funny thing, a very big
bandage, on my leg but they still wanted to play with me and all I wanted to do was eat and then
sleep. When my mom sat down on Aunt Deb's couch I was ready for a nap on her lap. It felt so
good to be warm . . . there wasn't enough room on the couch for Gilbert so he laid down in front of
the couch. Bridey, normally the "ever-ready-bunny," walked very quietly carrying one of her
favorite bones and stood right in front of my face. I ignored her, I was too tired and still a little groggy from
lack of sleep at the Vet's. Bridey tried two more times to get me interested in her bones . . . I
must tell you, I've tried to take Bridey's bones before but she always pushed me away and now that I
wasn't feeling so good she was so sweet to share to make me feel better . . . what a girl, Whippet!
Thanks Gilbert, Bridey and Aunt Deb for making me feel better.

Sable's energy level, I asked why he said that, he said at her age he thought she should be slowing down not acting like a puppy, I explained that even though she was 35 lbs she was only 4 months
old, (and much to my dismay possibly part moose) so much for a dog breed that should top out at about 40 - 45 lbs at adult weight. Its hard to
remember that its a puppy in that dogs body.

When our black Pug "Durpea" senses we are about to sit down to dinner, she will run to the dog door and bark frantically causing our other dogs to run outside and see what the problem is, meantime she has us (and our dinner plates) all to herself!
Ron
Note from Tai: Durpea is very clever. I used to do something like that when I wanted the whole bed to myself (human bed). At three in the morning (my bathroom time), I'd bark once or twice, and after Heidi and Cini dashed out the dog door, I ran in. It was great, I got the middle of the bed. Way to go Durpea!

The perfect fuel for a race.
My most memorable funny moment was years ago when we were racing our whippets all over England. We had our
best dog Brighton Early (we come from near
Brighton) very fit and ready to race, carefully prepared diet and lots of working weeks beforehand. (It was a BIG Championship Meeting). Well there we were just after weighing him in and having a snack by our car waiting for the meeting to start, and along came a friend to say hello while eating his lunch of a lovely big sausage and chip
buttie.
Needless to say, while chatting and standing by us and our whippet, he put his hand down by his side with the partly eaten snack, and hey presto not 3 seconds later, no snack in hand just one happy chomping sandwich racing whippet grinning all over his face with such a nice treat ! It must have done him good
'cos he still ran very well that afternoon but we didn't put sausage butties on his diet ever again !
Rita
Note from Deb Dog Stuff - for Americans (myself included) who haven't spoken English for over 200 years. Buttie is a sandwich. Bread smeared with butter and chips (french fries) is a chip buttie.

Musical Beds:
My newest but oldest whippet Ellie who is a rescue, at bedtime, if she's been in my bed for a while while the kids come to bed, she knows it's time to move into their bed as my husband objects to all 3 dogs in our bed all night, so after
a couple of hours the girls will come up to bed and transfer the dogs into their beds. Ellie gets clever at this and turns into some kind of heavy jelly.
She makes her body go very limp and heavy even though she's only about 18lb.
It's very funny to see and even funnier trying to move her. When she wants to be lifted she makes it very easy and doesn't seem to weigh
anything. Lewis is another story. Sonny manages to sneak in through the night. I'm sure he waits for my husband to start snoring, then he creeps into our bedroom and slowly and carefully slips under the cover, and he's there all
night. Always my side, he knows I'll let him stay.

I've mentioned Lewis my whippet before. This story is about bedtime. He jumps on the bed and tries his best to cover you up
properly. He'll drag the duvet with his teeth up to your head and nudge and nudge until he thinks your covered enough. It must be the instinct whippets have to be under the covers at bed time. He always get under

Dogs eat meat don't they?
One of my favorite dog stories is about the time I was at a picnic ... lots of people having a great time with a big buffet out in the backyard. I had already gotten my plate of food (thankfully!) when I happened to notice the host's dog had her face buried in one of the dishes eating away like there was no tomorrow. LOTS of people were hovering near the table but it seems I was the only one that noticed the stealth move on the Calico Beans.
The dog sadly has gone to heaven but she'll always be the Bean Eater to me.

Second chance for a very smart & lucky dog:
I found my dog in the newspaper, he was a mutt, and he was about to be put to sleep, now he is so smart, he sits, stands, lays down, speaks, speaks softly, rolls over, gets the newspaper, knows what "the ball" is, knows what you mean when you say:
Want to go outside? Who's here? Where's daddy? Play hide and seek? Get em! kitty cat, and puppy dog,
Wanna play? Wanna a treat? Wanna go for a ride?
Its really nothing funny but it's very interesting how much he has accomplished, If you go to bed and scoot over in "his space" he makes a light growl and jumps off the bed. He is so cute when he gets out the the bathtub, he gets really excited and runs all through the living room, kitchen, foyer, and den and he slides on the hardwood floors and hits the walls. And if your pretend like you are hurting one of the family members, he gets so mad and starts barking and growling and he starts biting you. He hates if you dance, if you do, he jumps on your hip and bites your arm. Just thought I would share some of my dog with you.

Can't have just one:
Another one of my whippets Lewis a rescue I've had for 4years now. In the first month we had him we were trying out a small dome tent in the garden that we'd just bought. we went indoors for a short while and when we looked outside Lewis was lying with his head sticking out of the tent. I went out side to join him and when I looked inside there were around 10 teddys inside with him. I went in and asked my husband did you put those teddys in the tent? and he came out to see what I was on about. It was Lewis as he was the only one there other than us. Since then we know that this fetish for teddys is serious stuff. He always has one close by and he'll always greet people with a teddy. If not a teddy it's his food bowl, He's great.

We have a cute little basset hound, named Violet. She has the usual short legs, but her
ears are longer than most. When we first brought her home, we would take for walks
(actually she mostly runs) But she would get to going too fast, with her nose to the
ground...and she would trip over those ears and do a tumble. It was so funny to watch.
It took her the longest time to figure out that she shouldn't run with her nose to the
ground. Another cute thing she does is.... sometimes when she gets a doggie treat and
she's not really ready to eat it, she will hide it. And if she notices that you were watching
she will take it somewhere else. You have no idea how many times I have found them
hidden under my pillow on the bed...or in the laundry basket.....The kids have found
